Spring break is here, it is always good to take a break from your life and see what's missing and see what new things we can create......So.....starting April 14th through the month of May, look for "Cheese with a Side of Art " or is it "Art with a Side of Cheese", it's up to you! Bring a bottle of wine to the studio for a creative evening Mid-Week, Wednesday's, from 6:30-9:00. The cost is $35. All materials will be provided & the creative space. There will be complimentary hors d'oeuvres, sodas, coffee & tea. Bring yourself, a friend & a bottle of wine. Let's create in the studio together!

The snow is melting and the earth is being revealed. What needs to be uncovered for you to jump into creating? There is a lot of painting happening at the studio, new painters and experienced painters! Are you trying to come up with an idea of what you can create? Oh my, the snow piled-up out here is crazy. Thank goodness, my neighbor, Steve, is keeping the drive clear! Thank you, Steve! I ended up in the snowbank, a couple of days ago, slowly the car drifted and it settled softly in the snow........ thump.

The local school closed early today, so no kids classes afterschool. It feels good to hang out in the studio and paint.

The studio will be open this Friday and Saturday for your pleasure. Maybe you need a break, the roads will be cleared and you can create something special for the one you love for Valentine's Day. It will be time to venture out and head to the country and I will fill you up with good food, creative support, and a restful yet fullfilling day. Both days will start at 10:45 and end at 5:00.

Lunch will be:

Chicken noodle soup, hot asiago quiche, crusty bread,, Three Crows coffee and teas, dessert will be hmmmm, not sure-sweet pastries?, cheese cake?, chocolates?..I don't know..a surprise!

Also don't forget the Foot by Foot/4 Show at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts on Feb. 18th from 6-9. Lots of art, artists, me and you?!

Hello from the farm,

December it's always a big month..stressful sometimes and absolutely fabulous, surprising and heartwarming, other times. I guess that's just my normal so no different than any other month. it's an awesome life. The farm was snowed in so my neighbor thankfully plowed us out. Thank you Steve Stone...My little Subaru could not get through all of the snow.

What also comes along with winter is the possibility of freezing water in the studio. It happened..no water..we'll need a warm spell to thaw things out and I don't think that will happen before Friday....so a bit of a change this Friday and Saturday Spa. We will be meeting in the house and will focus on painting. I'll have canvas, paper, acrylics and watercolors available to you. I also have some new easels that will be available. If you need something desperately we can walk to the studio.

I will also have 12x12 boards to paint on if you would like to create something for the 'Foot in the Door 4' show at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. I participated in the first 'Foot by a Foot' show in the 80's. The painting of my son Aaron that is in the studio is the piece that I entered. Check link below to MIA.

I also am creating a new facebook page for The Art Spa-a few glitches but the plan is to put updates, menu, events etc on the site. Become a Fan!

Greetings from the Farm on a beautiful sunny, warm day in November,

"Breast In Show"

It has been a month since I last communicated with you all. I had a piece of art in the "Breast in Show" exhibit, at the Hang It gallery in NE Minneapolis, part of "Keep a Breast" a cancer awareness group. I was honored to paint the body cast of my friend, Liz. A group of friends and I went to the opening it was an inspiring show. I have included a couple of photos. When I first visited some friends in South Dakota, I always thought the rolling hills were the curvaceous parts of women, so when Liz asked me to create a piece for the show I knew immediately what I would do for this exhibit. The show was in the month of October.

Oil Painting and Art Show in December at The Three Crows, Opening on December 3rd from 4-6:30

Since the last Art Spa I also have started painting in oils, small 9 x 12 pieces, mostly local landscapes, and South Dakota and Alaska, and more. I truely am loving this medium. I just completed my first oil commission . I am nervous about the delivery of the painting tomorrow. I will be having an ART SHOW in December at The Three Crows Cafe' and Coffeehouse. www.TheThreeCrows.com

The Opening will be on December 3rd, Thursday from 4:00-6:30. They also have dinner available at 6:00 and music at 7:00, The Benny Weinback Trio with Gordon Johnson, with a $10 cover on that night. Check The Three Crows website for a description of the music, I believe it is Jazzie. On Saturday, December 5th, there will be a Christmas Art Walk in Delano so that is also a time I will be at The Three Crows. A schedule of the days events will be available at the Delano City Hall Saturday, Dec. 5th from 10-4.

My Boys

My son Aaron has enrolled at Hennepin Tech., in the Welding program. I am so happy and proud of him. I believe this could be a miracle! I am a beliver in miracles. He enrolled and took the placement test, after studying with his friend Tara. Congratulations Aaron! Thank You, Tara! Thank You, Ross, part of the support team. Thank You, Jean!

Also Tyler is spending some time with us this Fall. He is also hunting in North Dakota, Kansas, Canada and visiting friends. Taking a break from his Alaskan fishing life.

Art Spas are this Friday, Nov 13 and Saturday, Nov 14-Call to reserve your place!

Last Thursday in Orono I presented a workshop called "From Junk to Treasure", so a couple of activities will be available at the Spas this week. "Fabric Pumpkins" with real pumpkin stems and "Earrings from Junk". I have fabric available and bring any special fabric if you wish.

Delicious food will be, Asiago Quiche, Carrot Soup and Apple Surprise, Bread, Coffee and Tea as always.

Dear Friends,

It is a new year. Locally school is starting today. The kids are getting onto the buses and heading to their first day of school. They are a bundle of emotions. What will this day bring? Excited about new possibility, maybe a bit anxious or maybe sadness with a beautiful summer ending. I remember stiff new shoes, new wool clothes that I wanted to wear the first day of school and yet it was too early to be wearing anything wool. Many emotions, I feel the same way, my art classes, that I teach, will start tomorrow. These seasonal transitions and school transitions have always been a stuggle for me. I feel as though I should be able to just move ever so easily in my life from one thing to another. My moves are not very graceful but jerky. What about granting myself some space to ease into the new pieces? September 18th is the Jewish tradition of Rosh Hashanah, it is their New Year. There is something so perfect about this time of year being the "New Year". It is also my new year. New art classes, new kids, new schedules, and new opportunities. Just Breathe.

Greetings,

I have been sitting on the studio deck, being warmed by the Minnesota sun. Just got back from Homer, Alaska which is surrounded by the sea, mountains and glaciers and now I am ready to create. Huck, our yellow lab is happy that I am back. I took a tour around the garden and ate a half dozen small yellow tomatoes. Sweet! Come to the Art Spa on Friday and/or Saturday. The Wedding Photo
I do like summer I may even love it... not too hot, cool summer nights, great sleeping weather.  Stevie and I attended our dear friends daughters' wedding a couple of weeks ago.  It was one of those perfect nights, the leaves were not stirring, votive candles in tiny jars hanging from the trees, lush green, friends looking oh so beautiful for this wonderful celebration.  I asked the photographer, our friend Mitch, if he would take a photo of us.  Stevie and I did not have a professional photographer at our wedding. That was in Colorado, on the mountainside, with a few friends it was a casual affair. So here is our photo today.  I love it.. Please open attachment...  It made me cry after he took the photo..it documents a special day, a glorious evening....
