Last Friday was a day of mowing, planting and weeding. I'm not sure how many miles I walked around this place, wanting to just get the tops off of all to those dandelions. I need appropriate footwear for the summer....my feet were ohh so sore & need more protection from that hot sun. I actually had a lightweight flannel shirt on that day. After a long productive day on Friday, I thought I would move indoors on Saturday and work on the pantry..you know how things accumulate, it was finally time to take that on.. I look outside and a truck and very long trailer are pulling into the driveway..I said to Aaron.."hey who is that with the trailer..must be a friend of yours". It was Aaron's two friends, Marshall and Patrick. They each backed out of the trailer a large mower, put on their hats..rather ear protectors..and like 3 horsemen sped away with grass swirling behind them..Oh men and their machines.. It made me cry! I was so grateful and happy... It took them I don't think more than 40-45 minutes to mow the entire place. I could only catch glimpses of them..Marshall flying thorough the orchard....Patrick here and there and Aaron circling the trees around the house. mowing, mowing, mowing... Then in the distance I heard the faint sound of more horsepower...they were mowing the walking paths...and creating more..These are some of the same young men who a few years earlier were jumping their motorcycles and 4 wheelers in the pasture...They know this property like the back of their hands..sweet boys...oh that's right..sweet young men!

Art "Play Date" for Adults and Kids (No Play Date in July it is the 4th)

June 6th we will be making paper on Saturday morning..Fresh orange scones, fruit, coffee and juice or milk..It will be messy and wet fun!

Come for one day of art or come for two. Stay in your own tent or stay in the big canvas tent. Stay in the Shanty..if Aaron allows it!. Stay in the Stortz home. Stay for the bonfire. Stay for the arty movie..Stay for the great conversations! & did I say ART...

Visioning in Delano

A community wide meeting was held in Delano on Sunday..We gathered to illuminate the assets, challenges and desired outcomes in the next 3-5 years...

The top outcomes were..

1. Revitalize the downtown historic district

2. A Cultural Center to include Art, Theatre & Music for youth and adults

3. Crow River-access & promotion

4. More jobs for people in Delano

These were just of the few top ideas..I'll keep you posted!

I have a new computer and it's up and running! Thank you all!

It takes a community to get a computer...Thanks to Hans the computer man..countless hours, Pat-owner of computer and will swap for art, Elizabeth-idea person, Han's family-for being so patient for many, many hours and days, Stevie for making latenight dinners-food from the future cookbook hmmmmmgood..me... believing that the universe will provide, although not in the way we always think..
